What led you into the CGI/2D? Tell us your story.

I think it was in high school ,when my first time to see the news about STARCRAFT 2 and WEI WANG’s artwork of WOW,I knew that was the place I wanted to stay.

Where do you go to get inspired? What/Who inspires you?

Movies,TV shows, games and many many funny photos are my inspirations. Many other artists in this industry are the guide lights to my career.I still remember how crazy I was about WEI WANG ,JOE MAD and BROM when I was in collage.

How does a typical working day look like?

I usually read feedback and see amazing artworks that other artists have made on ARTSTATION in the morning, then I start to work .I think searching the references takes me most of the time. When I ‚m home after work ,I watch movies ,play games or spend time with my personal artworks.

What does your workplace look like?

At the moment my studio is just getting started, not many people are there, so there is a relatively free environment and time.

How do you stay motivated in this industry?

Hobbies are very important.I keep watching other artists‘ amazing works everyday and creating my own paintings .Keep learning new stuffs and have passions about them.

What is your passion beside CGI/2D?

Nothing special…I‘m kinda a otaku in a way ^_^ ,i spend most of the time staying at home ,playing games, listening music, and consuming my energy on hand-painting.

How do you keep your portfolio up to date? Any tips?

Some are from work ,and I keep creating my personal artworks. Most of my artworks are personal works actually.

What Software do you use to create your artwork?

Usually photoshop and hand-painting ,sometimes SKETCHUP when I’m working on environment design.

What Software do you want to learn in future? And why?

MODO and 3Dcoat ,or maybe blender.I am currently interested in environment design, these software can help me get the job done more efficiently.

Which books would you recommend to the read?

WOW I have so many artbooks ,not only about games and movies, but also about oil paintings and watercolor.I liked the art of draksiders II the most when I was a student and I loved the art of brom very much.

What music do you listen to while working?

Rock and movie soundtracks, not that kind of cheerful style…

Any advice for new Artists?

Keep learning new stuffs, not only software but styles as well .There are always new things on other artists. And don’t stop creating your personal artwork.
